Transfennica’s New Premises: Smooth Operations and Sustainable Growth with Fokus Nordic
Export and import specialist Transfennica needed premises that would support both its business growth and the smooth flow of port operations. After challenges with the old facilities, the right solution was quickly found with the help of Fokus Nordic – an office on Tornatorintie that perfectly met the company’s needs.
Sami Rokka, Operations Manager at Transfennica’s local branch, shares in this customer story how the new premises have simplified everyday operations and supported the company’s continued growth.
Problems with the Old Premises Drove the Change
Everyday work became increasingly difficult due to recurring issues in the previous facilities. “After several water damages that weren’t fixed despite our complaints, and when the problem occurred for the fourth time, it became clear that we needed to find new premises urgently,” Rokka recalls.
The situation wasn’t just inconvenient — it affected work efficiency and employee wellbeing. At the same time, the company’s operations were expanding, and six people were already working at the Kotka in addition to Rokka. The need for better and more functional premises was obvious.
The Solution Was Found Through Fokus Nordic
New options were explored from several directions, but the turning point came when one of the company’s largest clients mentioned an office property on Tornatorintie. Fokus Nordic’s professional team assisted in evaluating the property and organizing the viewings.
“Our client said their experience with the property had been positive. With Fokus Nordic’s help, we were able to visit the site quickly, and everything just clicked. The location, the views, proximity to services, and the price per square meter were all just right for us. The office size was perfect too. In the end, the decision was an easy one, Rokka says.
The Importance of Location
Location plays a major role in Transfennica’s daily operations. Although the company initially looked for premises accessible directly by truck, global political changes reshaped its import logistics needs. One key requirement, however, remained the same: proximity to the port.
“Hietanen Port is essential for us. Ships arrive and depart daily, and our staff visits the port several times a day. We handle loading and unloading operations and provide vessel clearance services. Sometimes the crew also needs healthcare services — in those cases, the office’s location makes everything much easier,” Rokka explains.
A Smooth Leasing Process with Fokus Nordic
Securing new business premises can often be a long and heavy process for companies. Rokka’s experience was the opposite.
“One phone call was enough to get things started, and everything progressed quickly from beginning to end. Cooperation with Fokus Nordic was effortless, and all meetings were handled as agreed. Not once did it feel like something wasn’t working — on the contrary, the whole process was very smooth.”
The positive experience left a strong impression. According to Rokka, speed and clarity were key factors that built trust. “It gave us confidence and confirmed that we’re in the right place.”
Quick Maintenance and Positive Staff Feedback
In day-to-day operations, small details often make the biggest difference. Rokka says he’s been pleasantly surprised by how quickly maintenance issues are handled.
“If, for example, a fluorescent tube breaks, it’s enough to leave a message. We often get a reply within half an hour, and the maintenance technician might arrive the same day. At the latest, everything’s fixed within a couple of days — a huge improvement compared to our previous location.”
The staff have also warmly welcomed the new office.
“From the very first comments, the feedback has been extremely positive. Over 90% of employees are satisfied. The premises are clean, quiet, and modern — and the sea views from the windows make the workspace pleasant. It’s great to be able to say I’m proud of our new office,” Rokka says with a smile.
Premises as a Core Part of Business
When asked whether he would recommend Fokus Nordic to other businesses, Rokka answers without hesitation:
“Absolutely. The leasing process was smooth and fast from start to finish. Cooperation went well, and the end result meets our needs perfectly. Nothing was left unresolved — everything works as it should.”
He sums it up by emphasizing that business premises are not just a practical matter but a vital part of the company’s core operations.
“Compared to before, the difference is huge. The building’s quality, location, and standard are excellent. The price–quality ratio is good, and most importantly, we can now focus on our core business without the distraction of facility problems. That’s what really matters in the end.”
